Sending a request

Updated 15 Sep 2026

A request is how you ask an adviser for an introduction. It takes five short screens, goes to one adviser at a time, and the adviser sees your name and number only once they've accepted it. This page walks through the screens and what each answer is used for.

Where to start

Press "Request an intro" on an adviser's card or profile to ask for that adviser, or "Match me with an adviser" on any results page to have us pick one verified adviser who covers your district.

The five screens

  1. What do you need help with? Your first home, buying a home, a fixed rate ending, moving your mortgage, borrowing more, an investment property, building, or something else.
  2. Where are you? Your district. Advisers can work with you anywhere in New Zealand; this helps us find someone local.
  3. About the loan. Roughly how much: under $300k, $300k to $500k, $500k to $1m, or over $1m. You can add a message of up to 280 characters for the adviser.
  4. Your details. Your name, your email address and a New Zealand phone number, all three needed. The adviser will call you on that number.
  5. Who can see this. You agree to share your request with the adviser you chose, or with one verified adviser who covers your district if you asked us to match you. You can also tick a second box: if they don't respond in time, offer your request to up to three verified advisers near you, one at a time, telling you each time.

Then a page to check your answers, with a "Change" link beside each, and the "Send request" button.

What happens when you press send

Your request goes to the adviser straight away. We email you a reference and a link that opens your request page and signs you in so you can follow it. If the email hasn't arrived after a minute, the page offers to send it again.

Until an adviser accepts, they see what you need, your district and the loan size, but not your name, email or phone number. Those are released only to the adviser who accepts, and we email you to say who has them. What happens next follows the request from there.

Asking for an adviser who hasn't joined yet

You can request an introduction to an adviser marked "Unclaimed". We invite them to claim their profile and take your request, and they have three working days. If they haven't responded by then, we tell you and, if you ticked the second box, offer your request to a verified adviser near you.

A few things worth knowing

  • One request is enough. It moves from adviser to adviser on its own if the first can't take it.
  • If the adviser you chose isn't taking new clients, we match you with one who is, and say so. If your loan is smaller than the smallest they take, we tell you at the loan question and offer a match instead.
  • You can withdraw it at any time from your request page.
  • Sending a request never costs you anything.
