How We Roll
Sussed is a directory of New Zealand financial advisers. This page says where every fact comes from, what a "verified" adviser has done, what we refuse to show, how results are ordered, and who pays for what.
Where the facts come from
Every adviser on Sussed is on the Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR), the public register kept by the Companies Office. We check the register each month (the copy you're looking at is dated 1 Sep 2026), and update our database to match.
From the register we show the adviser's registered name, FSP number, registration date, the licence holder they give advice under, their dispute resolution scheme and their business address. If the register changes, the profile changes at the next monthly load; an adviser who leaves the register is marked as no longer registered and removed from public view.
The FSPR lists every financial adviser in New Zealand, not only mortgage advisers. Sussed filters the list to only show mortgage advisers; there are 1,122 so far. If we've got that wrong for someone, the report link at the foot of their profile tells us.

What "verified" means
A profile initially shows only details from the register, marked as Unclaimed on their profile.
When an adviser claims it, we check that the person claiming is the person the register names before anything they write is shown. The check uses details published for the adviser and their firm, and the register itself; we don't publish how each adviser was checked, because that would make it easier to fake.
Once checked, the profile shows Verified · claimed [date], and the adviser can add a photo, their firm, service areas, specialities, languages, a link to their disclosure statement, and how to reach them. Everything they add is marked "provided by the adviser" with the date, so you can always tell a register fact from the adviser's own words.
What we never show
- Nothing scraped. We don't copy text, photos or contact details from advisers' websites onto their profiles. If it isn't from the register, the adviser typed it.
- No rating without a source. Reviews come only from clients an adviser invites, or from people we introduced to that adviser, and every reviewer confirms by email. There is no star score until at least three reviews are published, and the score always shows how many it's from.
- No edited reviews. An adviser can reply to a review publicly, or flag it for us to look at. They cannot change or remove it. Only Sussed can hide a review, and we record why.
- No fees unless the adviser says so. Most mortgage advisers are paid by the lender. We don't guess at fees; a profile mentions them only if the adviser wrote a note.
- No rates. Sussed doesn't compare or recommend mortgage products. That's the adviser's job, under their licence.
How results are ordered
When you search a district, advisers appear in three groups, in this order:
- Verified advisers who are taking new clients and cover that district.
- Other verified advisers.
- Advisers on the register who haven't claimed their profile, whose registered address is in the district.
Who pays
You never pay Sussed. When you ask for an introduction, your request goes to one adviser at a time, never to several at once, and your name and number are released only to the adviser who accepts. Advisers pay Sussed a fixed fee only when a client they met here signs a loan offer, and nothing for introductions that don't lead to one.
Advisers themselves are usually paid by the lender when your mortgage settles. Their disclosure statement, linked from a verified profile, explains how they're paid.
What Sussed is not
Sussed is not a financial adviser and doesn't give financial advice. It isn't a lender or a broker, and it isn't a rate-comparison site. It's a checked list of the people who are licensed to help, and a way to reach one who will reply.
Sussed is made in Otago by a small independent team. It isn't owned by a bank, a lender, or an adviser network.
