Help · If you're an adviser

Why you're already listed

Updated 15 Sep 2026

Every mortgage adviser in New Zealand who is registered to give financial advice has a profile on Sussed, whether or not they asked for one. If you found yourself here and never signed up, this page says what is showing, why, and what you can do about it.

Where the profile came from

Your registered name, FSP number, the licence holder you advise under, your registration date, your dispute resolution scheme and your business address are public facts on the Financial Service Providers Register, kept by the Companies Office. Sussed takes a copy of that record each month and shows those facts, with the date of the copy, on a page for each adviser. The data is published under a Creative Commons licence that allows this, and each page says so.

Sussed lists mortgage advisers only. The public record covers every kind of financial adviser, so we switch each profile on by hand once we're satisfied the person gives mortgage advice. If we've listed you and you don't advise on mortgages, tell us and we'll take you off.

What your page shows before you claim

Until you claim it, your profile shows the public facts and nothing else, marked "Unclaimed". There is no photo, no description, no phone number and no email address, because we don't copy anything from your website. There are no reviews and no rating.

An unclaimed profile is kept out of search engines. In results it sits below every claimed adviser, in a group whose order changes daily.

If a client asks for you

Anyone can request an introduction to you from your page, even before you've claimed it. When that happens we invite you by email, and the request waits for you. Claim your profile and, once the claim is approved, the request is on your dashboard, ready to accept. If nobody has answered within three days, we tell the client and offer them a verified adviser nearby.

Claiming your profile

Claiming is free and takes a few minutes. You find yourself, confirm it's you, and we check that the person claiming is the adviser the record names. Then you can add a photo, your own description, your firm, the districts you take clients from and how to reach you, and clients can ask for you directly. Claiming your profile goes through each step.

If you'd rather not be listed

Use "Ask to be taken off Sussed" at the foot of your profile page. Give us an email address and a phone number we can reach you on. A person checks every request, usually within two working days, and emails you when the listing is off. From then on your page is gone, you appear in no results, and no introductions are sent to you. The public record itself isn't ours to change.

If you have claimed the profile, there is a quicker way: "Remove my profile" in your account settings takes it off straight away. What you added is kept unseen, and claiming again brings it all back.

Keeping the facts right

Our copy of the public record is refreshed each month, so a change you make with the Companies Office shows here after the next load. If a fact on your page looks wrong in the meantime, use "Report it" at the foot of the page and say what's wrong. An adviser who leaves the record is marked "No longer on the register", dropped from results, and kept out of search engines.
